Born in South Carolina and raised in Georgia, Jay Jenkins, A.K.A. Young Jeezy, was selling drugs by age 12. But he’s come a long way from his street beginnings. After releasing 2 independent albums, Jeezy made his solo major label debut with Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, which debuted at #2 and featured hip hop artists like T.I., Young Buck, Lloyd, Slick Pulla, Mannie Fresh (half of the Big Tymers with Birdman) among others. He followed this up with The Inspiration, which yielded the work with Keyshia Cole, Timbaland, Blood Raw, and R. Kelly. In 2008, Jeezy dropped The Recession, which went straight to #1, driven by the single “Put On” featuring Kanye West and “My President” with Nas. He also has worked with Lil’ Jon, and pop and R&B stars Christian Milian and Ciara. Jeezy also is a close friend of Yung Joc and had a short feud with Gucci Mane. In addition to his music, Young Jeezy is also known for his charitable works, including his Toyz in Da Hood Christmas Toy Drive and opening his home to survivors after Hurricane Katrina.
