Jose Nieves and Kenny Vasquez, better known as RKM and Ken-Y, are pioneers of romantic Reggaeton music. Coming out of Gurabo, Puerto Rico, RKM was inspired when Reggaeton blew up in the ‘90s, and in 2004, he hooked up with Ken-Y and the two started to perform at birthday parties and public events. Soon they were recording with Nicky Jam and starting to getting noticed by record producers. Money Machine Records picked them up and their first album, Masterpiece, was released in 2006. Masterpiece won the 2007 Premio Lo Nuestro award and yielded the single “Down” which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Latin chart. In 2007, Masterpiece: Commemorative Edition dropped, and another single, “Lloraras” went to #1. In 2008, their 3rd studio album, The Royalty, was released, featuring the singles “Mis Dias Sin Ti” and “Te Tegalo Amores.” Since their debut, RKM and Ken-Y have worked with several artists including Daddy Yankee, David Bisbal, and Don Omar. They also let their political opinions be known, performing at a Hillary Clinton rally at "Vota o quédate callao" concert in May, 2008.
