The Swedish girl group, Play, was created by Laila Bagge, the Swedish manager and songwriter who has written songs for Solange, 702, Mya, and 98 Degrees. Their debut album, Us Against the World, was sugar sweet pop and eventually went gold in the US. Their second album, Replay, was a more mature R&B effort and peaked at #67 on the Billboard 200. In 2003, Play released the album Don’t Stop the Music (not to be confused with the Rihanna song) with new members. Some criticized Play for “stealing” the song and album title from the Robyn, who also released an album called Don’t Stop the Music. Their 4th album was the holiday album, Play Around the Christmas Tree.
