Peter. Lois. Meg. Chris. Stewie. The Griffins have become one of the most popular animated families since The Simpsons. Born in 1999 from the creative mind of Seth MacFarlane, Family Guy aired for 2 seasons before its first cancellation. A change in leadership at FOX led to it being brought back for a 3rd season, but then was quickly cancelled again. Strong DVD sales and an outcry from fans led to Family Guy being brought back again, and it has been going strong ever since, with episodes scheduled to air through 2012. The show revolves around the adventures of Peter, the average American father, Lois, the greater than average mother, the black sheep Meg, loud and gullible Chris, the maniacal baby Stewie, and Brian, the talking dog. Music also plays a large role in the show with guest appearances from the likes of country legend Conway Twitty, rockers like Peter Frampton, Gregg Allman, and KISS, and pop legend, and American Idol judge, Paula Abdul, as well as the original Batman, Adam West. Family Guy has won 3 Emmys and has been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, making it only the 2nd every animated series to be nominated (The first being The Flintstones). Despite frequent comparisons, not even The Simpsons can match that.
