Did they get their name from a twisting of the name of Chuck Berry? Of from a drag queen? Either way, Buckcherry has brought a classic rock sound back to modern rock airwaves. Meeting through their tattoo artist and sharing a love of rock bands, including Aerosmith and The Black Crowes, vocalist Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson formed the band in the late 90s and quickly started playing the Hollywood club scene. The first album, produced by Terry Date (Soundgarden, hip hop star Sir Mix-A-Lot, Limp Bizkit, Korn, alternative rockers The Smashing Pumpkins), was certified gold and, with this success, a tour with Lenny Kravitz soon followed. After a dip in popularity with the second album, Todd briefly left the band and was rumored to be joining up with Slash’s , of Guns N Roses fame, new project. This wasn’t to be and Todd reformed Buckcherry to release their platinum 3rd album, 15, and the follow-up Black Butterfly.
