There was this pretty young thing from across the way
We used to go
To and fro, home and school about every day, but…
Closest thing we ever had to a date
Was the time we spent together being late
Walking down the hall on our way to homeroom

But we were really young back then
So I guess I never noticed the time she took
To brush her hair and fix her clothes to make sure she looked
